Day 01 – Arrival in Paro | Transfer to Thimphu

Arrive at Paro International Airport and meet your guide. Begin a scenic drive to Thimphu (approx. 1.5 hours), Bhutan’s capital city.

Spend the evening at leisure, allowing time to acclimatize and explore the surroundings at a relaxed pace.

Overnight: Hotel in Thimphu

Explore the cultural highlights of Thimphu:

  • Memorial Chorten
  • Buddha Dordenma, overlooking the valley
  • Changangkha Lhakhang
  • Takin Preserve Center
  • Local markets including Kaja Throm

This day offers insight into both traditional and modern Bhutanese life.

Drive to Punakha, crossing the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100m). On clear days, enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan range.

Descend into Punakha Valley, known for its warmer climate and fertile landscapes. Evening at leisure.

Explore Punakha’s highlights:

  • Visit Punakha Dzong, set at the confluence of two rivers
